Planning Grade: 18/20
You write beautifully when you put your mind to it. Your analysis of short films are excellent and you have carefully considered your target audience. You've included everything you were asked to do for planning and you've presented it all with level 4 skill using digital technology. Well done.

Coursework grade: 71/100 (B)
Film: 25/40 - Better
Poster: 7/10 - Better
Radio advert/magazine article: 7/10
Evaluation: 14/20 - good discussion of research and conventions of products. More evidence of learning from audience feedback and development of NMT skills required. Still hard to hear - needed headphones again.

Short Film Research
- Experience - within a team and actually making the film.
- Showreel - demonstrating your skills.
- Partnerships - working with other people to see if you can work together in the future.
- Kudos - find a high profile director/writer/actor who will help raise your profile.
- Testing ideas out - try out a project on a small scale first.
- Money - work within a certain budget to allow production costs and to pay the crew; however, this is very rare in short film productions.

Target Audience
Who are the target audience for short films?
The main target audience for short films are people who are interested in making short films themselves. These could be students studying media and creative arts. Other people will include professional industries looking for young filmmakers who they can work with. Investors will also be the target audience, as they will be looking at young or experienced filmmakers who they think will be successful and take them on board with their business. According to the VALS system, short films could be targeted at “experiencers” who like new products and styles but soon get tired with them and look for something else. Short films can also be aimed at “strivers” who have a low income and are searching for approval from others, which will make them feel like they can gain ownership of possessions even though they may not be able to afford most of them.
Who are the target audience for the films you looked at?
The first film I looked at was “Letters From An Anonymous Addict”. The target audience for this film could be argued that they will be students studying world affairs or just people interested in what is going on around the world. This film could be aimed at charities, which help youths in lower economical statuses.
The next film I looked at was “Fight”. The target audience for this film can be British youth males, specifically students in school’s in the North West who are faced with violence on a regular basis. It could be targeted also to the parents of British school children as some of them may not be aware of the violence that occurs in schools.
The next film I looked at was "Live Before You Die". I believe that the target audience for this film would be young people, both male and female aged around 16 - 18. I think this because that age group wont have as many life experiences and they could be encouraged to take the route of the traveller's.
The final film I looked at was "Ashes". The target audience for this film would be broken families in Britain, especially broken father and son relationships.
Who are you making your film for?
My film will be made for teenagers from 17 years old up to people aged 21 who are either starting to drive or have been driving for a little bit. My film will be aimed at those who take drugs or have drugs around them in their community either from friends or family. This film will also be aimed at them teenagers who have friends who pressure them into doing illegal things. According to The VALS system, my film will be aimed at "trendies" as my film is based around the pressure of peers. My film could also be aimed at "groupies" as some of the characters in my film may join in with their friends just to be accepted even though they know that some of the stuff they are doing is illegal.
How will you measure your success in having made a product which appeals to this audience?
I will show my film at school in front of my media class and ask for feedback on it and find out whether my film fits my target audience. I will also broadcast my short film on Youtube and use the feedback comments I receive to measure if my film is targeting the audience I chose for it.

Sam: “cheers mate, got something to celebrate here if you want?” (shows Ben the joint)
Ben: “No I’m alright; you know I don’t do that. Please don’t smoke it if you’re driving, your just stupid doing that, you’re going to kill yourself!”
Sam: “Na I won’t, it’s a laugh. Anyway, where are we going?”
Jamie: “Let’s go Bromley, go for a little drive”
Sam: “great shout, let’s go!”
Music starts again and cuts to long shot of car pulling away and driving down the road.
4th Scene

Joe: “This is good Sam, where did you get this from, need to get more of it for next time”.
Sam: “Yeah it is pretty good, I got it off my mate who I work with. I will speak to him see if he has any more.”
Ben: “You lot are so stupid, it’s just going to mess you up later in your life.”
Sam: “Oh Ben be quiet mate, you don’t know what you’re talking about!”
Ben: “Well when you all die young and have problems later on in life, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Can you not do it when you’re driving though, or you can drop me home?”
Jamie: “Here you Ben, have some of this, this will cheer you up.”
Ben: “You know I don’t touch that. Sam”
Cuts to long shot of car and speeds off down the road over the limit
5th Scene
Cuts back to inside of the car
Ben: “Sam, slow down! Are you trying to kill us or something?”
Sam: “We are going for a little cruise mate”.
Ben: “Take me home then, I don’t want to be in the car if you’re driving stoned!”
Sam: “Chill man, smoke some weed.”
Sam then speeds up more (camera on the speed dial showing the speed going up)
(still on the speed dial)
Ben: “Sam, slow down!”
Everyone else is laughing in the car
(Speed dial goes up in slow motion)
Everyone’s laughter is slow motion
Camera cuts to Ben close up on his face (his talking in real time, still slow motion laughter in the background)
Ben: “This isn’t even funny now, just drop me off here!”
Back to real time. Camera on Sam, he turns around to Joe and gets the joint from him
As he turns back around, goes to slow motion
Ben: “SAM!” (still focused on Sam and slow motion)
When Sam turns fully around, goes to real time and he swerves to miss the oncoming car and slides out of control.
6th scene
As he swerves camera is close up on Ben, everything goes silent (white background behind Ben) like this for 5 seconds
Then there is pictures of Ben from his life starting when he was young leading up to present day. Pictures are scattered around the page (slow song starts to play, starts quiet and as more pictures are shown the volume gradually increases)
7th scene
Music then reduces volume then sirens start playing quietly then gets louder and louder. Picture then cuts to the car crashed different views (photos, not video sirens die down and music starts playing again) then picture of the emergency bed trolley with Ben in the black bag zipped up (pictures slowly fade into each other, slow music playing in the background quietly, same song as before)
Music then gets quieter until it goes silent
Scene ends with a full size picture of Ben (most recent picture) white background with text at the bottom – R.I.P. Ben Fisher 02/11/1991 – 15/10/2009
8th scene
Next scene starts with Jamie lying on his bed listening to Ben’s favourite song thinking about everything that’s happened. He then picks up his phone and texts Joe. After he has text him, he puts his phone back and moves onto Joe.
Joe is out buying a man utd shirt with Ben’s name on the back to place where the crash happened. He receives the text (as he reads it, subtitles at the bottom of the screen for the audience to read) the text says “Joe, I can’t think straight! This is all messed up, why did he have to die? I am never doing any drugs again, not after what’s happened now. I haven’t heard from Sam, I wonder what he’s doing”
9th scene
Cuts to Sam
Sam is getting all of his cannabis and throwing it down the toilet and flushing the toilet constantly going a bit mad.
Sam: “Why why why? I’m so sorry! I hate you; you have messed up my life!” (referring to the cannabis as he gets another bag and throws it in the toilet)
His phone starts to ring but he leaves it ringing. (cuts to his phone) After 10 seconds of it ringing (Sam is still flushing the toilet) he then backs away from the toilet sits against the wall and just screams.
Sam: “Arrrrggghhh!” He does that for 3 seconds.
Cuts to full size pictures of all 4 of them as friends having a good time. 3 pictures.
Scene ends with the same music as when the crash was with the RIP picture of Ben again.
